Thusly, these people are likewise in the executives positions and subsequently they are given administrative jobs in associations. This implies they should spend additional hours in the workplace experiencing all reports from each division as they are responsible for each action inside associations. This means investing less energy unwinding. Conditions in the

It could likewise portray the predominant socio-social pattern and estimation of food in a country. In this way, nourishment is something that doesn't just include the essential or imperative supplements of the food, however on other huge issues related with the countryââ¬â¢s social, political and financial development and improvement (Cullather 338). 1776 Reading Review
Katie Cohen Ms. Kenny AP US History, Period 5 15 August 2012 Summer Reading Assignment David McCulloughââ¬â¢s 1776 is a shrewd and genuine record of Americaââ¬â¢s first war; the Revolutionary war. In the book, David McCullough portrays occasions and clashes that hinted at the autonomy of the United States of America and the occasions that tailed it. The book fundamentally centers around the military parts of the progressive war. The assortment of firsthand record, statements, and viewpoints of both the Americans and the British make 1776 an incredibly all around made story made up of firsthand facts. To exactly 1776 may not be agreeable or drawing in, be that as it may, it is extremely exact and illustrative. David McCullough makes an outstanding showing of clarifying the Independence of America in a manner that doesn't exhaust the crowd like most chronicled accounts do. Despite the fact that it is obvious from the earliest starting point that David McCullough deliberately depic ts America as the legend of the book, he permits the peruser to relate to the British and even the ruler of Britain at the time also. Legit and fair-minded records are given towards both the Americans just as the British. Many real to life and liberal records of the British and the Americans as set forward all through the book. With much detail, David McCullough delineates King Georgeââ¬â¢s response to the defiant American pioneers as they sort out for opportunity in the main section. He doesn't reveal insight into George Washington as a prevalent and more able general than Howe. Both American and British powers are portrayed in the midst of brightness, karma, frustration and disgrace. Not exclusively is David McCullough fair, however he gives numerous inside and out portrayals of his characters. The peruser can get comfortable with the qualities, physical appearances, and inclinations of a larger part of the characters. Joseph Reed is depicted as ââ¬Å"a youngster with a long jaw and a to some degree curious look in his eyes (44),â⬠and James Grant, ââ¬Å"a terribly fat, exceptionally stubborn scot (71). â⬠The portrayals of characters run from the British commanders, to the American backstabbers. They make the book reasonable and complex. By and large, 1776 is an agreeable perused, be that as it may, it could have concentrated more on he Declaration of Independence and the impacts the war had on Great Britain. McCullough conveys the history as a story, while keeping up the consideration of his crowd. The use of symbolism is huge with scarcely any special cases; the entirety of the occasions were shown clearly. Statements of the individuals who partook in the war are likely the most captivating parts of this book. I, for one, would suggest this book since it is charming and a simple method to learn fundamental data about the nation wherein we live in viably.

Why is part one of And Still I Rise by Maya Angelou called Touch Me, Life, Not Softly Essay Example
Why is section one of And Still I Rise by Maya Angelou called Touch Me, Life, Not Softly Essay There are four sections to And Still I Rise, by Maya Angelou, the first is named Touch Me, Life, Not Softly, and contains eight distinct sonnets. Here, I will utilize these sonnets to investigate the conceivable outcomes regarding the causes of the title of the main area of the anthology. The contact me a player in the expression can be questionable, as it could mean the manner by which there has been physical contacting, or being contacted in an enthusiastic or mental manner, for instance, being moved to tears. The last could then be joined into saying the creator feels life should influence her profoundly, as likewise delineated with not delicately, which is a topic intensely alluded to in this first section. The absolute first sonnet of the treasury is A Kind of Love, Some Say, which investigates physical maltreatment inside a relationship, and the manner in which the manhandled accomplice feels there is despite everything love between the couple, as appeared with, Sorry eyes, talke d not/Of lost sentiment, yet hurt. The possibility of life contacting individuals is seen here, as the physical maltreatment in the sonnet will clearly influence the individual being referred to profoundly, in life when all is said in done, however through the entirety of their future and present connections. Our associations with others are an extremely huge piece of our lives, consequently the mishandled accomplices life could be said to change perpetually, as they may think that its difficult to confide in individuals until the end of time, or think that its difficult to identify with people. In A Kind of Love, Some Say there is additionally the expression Love essentially, demands a torment, demonstrating how Angelou feels life itself has intercourse hard, in a way that can't be coordinated by whatever else Unequaled on the rack. This likewise relates back to the manner in which life contacts individuals, in a way nothing else can.The next sonnet is Country Lover, takes a gander at the manner in which men can regularly be believed to be extremely thoughtless and need an incentive for ladies all through life, as observed with the capital letters utilized all through the sonnet, and the unmistakable pieces of the keeps an eye on night (Funky blues, High water jeans), and afterward the last line of and anybodys girl, which comes up short on the capital letters or the particular lady being referred to, rather inferring the man couldn't care less who he returns home with, as long as there is somebody. As this subject can be connected to all ages of men all through the world, it emphatically reflects how life can contact individuals, as there are many, numerous ladies who will have been influenced by a comparative circumstance, and not in a positive way, as they may feel they are deficient with regards to significance throughout everyday life, as the word anybodys suggests there is actually no importance concerning who the lady is. This could profoundly influence ladies, as they may experience life feeling mediocre compared to men and thusly potentially not making as quite a bit of themselves as they could. The third sonnet, Remembrance, centers around the subject of sex, yet rather than the genuine demonstration, the more cozy pieces of having intercourse, for example, the foreplay and the result. Be that as it may, the title of the sonnet, Remembrance, additionally shows how Angelou feels her preferred piece of the sex is a short time later, when her accomplice has left, and it is at that point, no one but/at that point, can I covetously devour/your essence. This shows how she doesn't feel sincerely stable until this point, and it is now she can completely take in the enchantment of the experience. Sex is another piece of life that regularly profoundly influences individuals in totally different manners, for example, in the manner in which they see the experience, or the manner in which specific sexual experiences have influenced them befo re. It is unquestionably not something that would contact somebody softly.Where We Belong, A Duet is the fourth sonnet, and takes a gander at the path individuals on the planet appear to consistently be scanning for a perfect partner, all through life Then I went to schoolrooms/And poolrooms/And half-lit mixed drink bars. Love, obviously, has a significant impact in everyones life, regardless of whether it is the dispassionate, unrestricted or sentimental kind, and in this way clearly can influence individuals profoundly, as with the sex in the above sonnet, due to past experiences, or the manner in which they see love. Once more, similar to sex, love is anything but a subject to be seen gently, as it very well may be said to influence everything in life.Next we have Phenomenal Woman, which investigates the way Angelou and others see her, and how she feels you don't need to be charming or worked to suit a design models size so as to be a fruitful lady throughout everyday life. Rathe r, the artist feels it isn't what youve got, yet what you do with it, for instance the fire in my eyes, or the ride of my bosoms. Our lives are frequently much influenced by the manner in which we are seen and furthermore see ourselves, as it can influence everything, from the manner in which we act around specific individuals, to the manner in which we treat certain circumstances. Life itself can likewise influence the above components, as we are frequently molded by the occasions we experience. This is in this manner a solid case of how life can contact somebody, not softly.Men takes a gander at the experience of a little youngster, through a sexual experience, conceivably saw as assault or the loss of virginity Shattered./It is your juice/That runs down their legs. what's more, how she feels about it; for this situation, not exceptionally positive, as appeared with the previously mentioned quote, and furthermore, Your psyche pops, detonating wildly, and Your body has hammered clo sed. For eternity. As referenced with Remembrance, it is frequently experience that shapes what our identity is and how we feel and respond to specific circumstances. Both the loss of virginity and assault are intense issues, particularly the last mentioned, as are probably going to influence individuals in solid manners. Contact me, life, not delicately accordingly identifies with this unequivocally, as nobody who at any point as been assaulted could state it was a light encounter or that they have not been moved by it here and there, as it is almost certain to have been an exceptionally negative experience. The penultimate sonnet is Refusal, concentrating on the situation of a lady on her demise bed, who won't stoop to kick the bucket except if she knows the accomplice she worships will be with her in her future lives, as she feels he has been in her different lives and terrains. I resist my bodys flurry is a key expression of the sonnet, as the word resist is solid and shows exact ly how much the lady being referred to wouldn't like to give up without realizing she will see her most prominent love once more. Refusal infers that it isn't simply life that contacts us, not delicately, yet additionally the individuals we meet all through life, as she is so fascinated by her affection that she never needs to leave him, considerably after death, so he has plainly had an extremely huge effect upon her life. The way that she seems to have faith in rebirth That we will meet once more,/On different universes a few/Future time undated. shows how she trusts her affection will win all, on the off chance that she can meet her perfect partner over and over in a wide range of lives. Hence, life can likewise contact us profoundly through the individuals we are condescended to meet all through our course upon earth, and the manners by which they influence us.The last sonnet is Just for a Time, taking a gander at past connections and how in spite disliking thinking back about p ast occasions, the storyteller despite everything does this and takes a gander at the manners in which he cherished his young lady. While the initial two verses think back about the past adoration, the last refrain investigates how the storyteller feels now, I dont spill tears/On yesterdays years/But trustworthiness makes me state,/You were a valuable pearl. Once more, it is frequently our connections all through life that firmly influence the manner in which we respond to and feel about things as we are moved by, not softly.Overall, I accept that the principal area of Maya Angelous verse treasury is called Touch Me, Life, Not Softly as the entirety of the sonnets referenced above spotlight on occasions and encounters fit as a fiddle us unequivocally, and infer that life doesn't let us pull off things without any problem. Notwithstanding, as Angelou gives off an impression of being advising life to do this to her, she is stating, that without life requesting such a great amount from us and influencing us so entirely, we would not be the individuals we are, and would perhaps be not as solid as we may be.

6 Steps to Mastering the Theoretical Framework of a Dissertation
6 Steps to Mastering the Theoretical Framework of a Dissertation As the pivotal section of your dissertation, the theoretical framework will be the lens through which your readers should evaluate your research. Its also a necessary part of your writing and research processes from which every written section will be built. In their journal article titled Understanding, selecting, and integrating a theoretical framework in dissertation research: Creating the blueprint for your house, authors Cynthia Grant and Azadeh Osanloo write:The theoretical framework is one of the most important aspects in the research process, yet is often misunderstood by doctoral candidates as they prepare their dissertation research study. The importance of theory-driven thinking and acting is emphasized in relation to the selection of a topic, the development of research questions, the conceptualization of the literature review, the design approach, and the analysis plan for the dissertation study. Using a metaphor of the blueprint of a house, this article explains the appl ication of a theoretical framework in a dissertation.Administrative Issues JournalThey continue in their paper to discuss how architects and contractors understand that prior to building a house, there must be a blueprint created. This blueprint will then serve as a guide for everyone involved in the construction of the home, including those building the foundation, installing the plumbing and electrical systems, etc. They then state, We believe the blueprint is an appropriate analogy of the theoretical framework of the dissertation. As with drawing and creating any blueprint, it is often the most difficult part of the building process. Many potential conflicts must be considered and mitigated, and much thought must be put into how the foundation will support the rest of the home. Without proper consideration on the front end, the entire structure could be at risk.Your theoretical framework is the blueprint for your entire dissertation and will guide you during the process of writing it. Photo by Daniel McCullough on Unsplash. With this in mind, Im going to discuss six steps to mastering the theoretical framework sectionâ"the blueprint for your dissertation. If you follow these steps and complete the checklist included, your blueprint is guaranteed to be a solid one.Complete your review of literature firstIn order to identify the scope of your theoretical framework, youll need to address research that has already been completed by others, as well as gaps in the research. Understanding this, its clear why youll need to complete your review of literature before you can adequately write a theoretical framework for your dissertation or thesis.Simply put, before conducting any extensive research on a topic or hypothesis, you need to understand where the gaps are and how they can be filled. As will be mentioned in a later step, its important to note within your theoretical framework if you have closed any gaps in the literature through your research. Its also importa nt to know the research that has laid a foundation for the current knowledge, including any theories, assumptions, or studies that have been done that you can draw on for your own. Without performing this necessary step, youre likely to produce research that is redundant, and therefore not likely to be published.Understand the purpose of a theoretical frameworkWhen you present a research problem, an important step in doing so is to provide context and background to that specific problem. This allows your reader to understand both the scope and the purpose of your research, while giving you a direction in your writing. Just as a blueprint for a home needs to provide needed context to all of the builders and professionals involved in the building process, so does the theoretical framework of your dissertation. So, in building your theoretical framework, there are several details that need to be considered and explained, including:The definition of any concepts or theories youre buildin g on or exploring (this is especially important if it is a theory that is taken from another discipline or is relatively new). The context in which this concept has been explored in the past. The important literature that has already been published on the concept or theory, including citations. The context in which you plan to explore the concept or theory. You can briefly mention your intended methods used, along with methods that have been used in the pastâ"but keep in mind that there will be a separate section of your dissertation to present these in detail.Any gaps that you hope to fill in the researchAny limitations encountered by past researchers and any that you encountered in your own exploration of the topic.Basically, your theoretical framework helps to give your reader a general understanding of the research problem, how it has already been explored, and where your research falls in the scope of it. In such, be sure to keep it written in present tense, since it is research that is presently being done. When you refer to past research by others, you can do so in past tense, but anything related to your own research should be written in the present.Use your theoretical framework to justify your researchIn your literature review, youll focus on finding research that has been conducted that is pertinent to your own study. This could be literature that establishes theories connected with your research, or provides pertinent analytic models. You will then mention these theories or models in your own theoretical framework and justify why they are the basis ofâ"or relevant toâ"your research.Basically, think of your theoretical framework as a quick, powerful way to justify to your reader why this research is important. If you are expanding upon past research by other scholars, your theoretical framework should mention the foundation theyve laid and why it is important to build on that, or how it needs to be applied to a more modern concept. If there are gaps in the research on certain topics or theories, and your research fills these gaps, mention that in your theoretical framework, as well. It is your opportunity to justify the work youve done in a scientific contextâ"both to your dissertation committee and to any publications interested in publishing your work.Keep it within three to five pagesWhile there are usually no hard and fast rules related to the length of your theoretical framework, it is most common to keep it within three to five pages. This length should be enough to provide all of the relevant information to your reader without going into depth about the theories or assumptions mentioned. If you find yourself needing many more pages to write your theoretical framework, it is likely that youve failed to provide a succinct explanation for a theory, concept, or past study. Rememberâ"youll have ample opportunity throughout the course of writing your dissertation to expand and expound on these concepts, past studies, method s, and hypotheses. Your theoretical framework is not the place for these details. If youve written an abstract, consider your theoretical framework to be somewhat of an extended abstract. It should offer a glimpse of the entirety of your research without going into a detailed explanation of the methods or background of it. In many cases, chiseling the theoretical framework down to the three to five-page length is a process of determining whether detail is needed in establishing understanding for your reader.Reducing your theoretical framework to three to five pages is a process of chiseling down the excess details that should be included in the separate sections of your dissertation. Photo by Mike Kenneally on UnsplashUse models and other graphicsSince your theoretical framework should clarify complicated theories or assumptions related to your research, its often a good idea to include models and other helpful graphics to achieve this aim. If space is an issue, most formats allow yo u to include these illustrations or models in the appendix of your paper and refer to them within the main text.Use a checklist after completing your first draftYou should consider the following questions as you draft your theoretical framework and check them off as a checklist after completing your first draft:Have the main theories and models related to your research been presented and briefly explained? In other words, does it offer an explicit statement of assumptions and/or theories that allows the reader to make a critical evaluation of them?Have you correctly cited the main scientific articles on the subject?Does it tell the reader about current knowledge related to the assumptions/theories and any gaps in that knowledge?Does it offer information related to notable connections between concepts?Does it include a relevant theory that forms the basis of your hypotheses and methods?Does it answer the question of why your research is valid and important? In other words, does it pr ovide scientific justification for your research? If your research fills a gap in the literature, does your theoretical framework state this explicitly?Does it include the constructs and variables (both independent and dependent) that are relevant to your study?Does it state assumptions and propositions that are relevant to your research (along with the guiding theories related to these)?Does it frame your entire research, giving it direction and a backbone to support your hypotheses? Are your research questions answered? Is it logical? Is it free of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax errors?A final noteIn conclusion, I would like to leave you with a quote from Grant and Osanloo:The importance of utilizing a theoretical framework in a dissertation study cannot be stressed enough. The theoretical framework is the foundation from which all knowledge is constructed (metaphorically and literally) for a research study. It serves as the structure and support for the rationale for the study, the problem statement, the purpose, the significance, and the research questions. The theoretical framework provides a grounding base, or an anchor, for the literature review, and most importantly, the methods and analysis.Administrative Issues Journal

Engineers Better Today Than Ten Years Ago
The Chronicle of Higher Education reports this week on a study commissioned by ABET, the body that accredits engineering programs. The study allegedly shows that students who graduated from college engineering programs in 2004 were better qualified to enter the profession than were students who graduated in 1994. ABET reports that students benefit today from more exposure to active and collaborative teaching practices, more feedback from instructors, and more interactions with faculty members both inside and outside class. As a result, engineering grads are more than brains with pocket-protectors. The areas of greatest improvement, said J. Fredericks Volkwein, a professor of higher education at Penn State and a co-principal investigator, are in teamwork and communication skills and the ability to learn, grow, and adapt. At the same time, ABET was relieved to report that technical skills had not declined; in fact they appear to have improved. 2004 graduates had higher test scores in mathematics and science than did the 1994 graduates.
